MEET SARAH
Sarah Rutledge Fischer is the founder of Thresholds LLC, a mediation practice rooted in the belief that human dignity belongs at the center of conflict resolution. After years in big-firm legal practice, she stepped away to build a life grounded in connection, creativity, and community. When she returned to the legal field, it was on her own terms—with a commitment to offering people a more humane, more empowering alternative to traditional legal systems.
Based in lower Alabama and serving clients virtually wherever needed, Sarah works with people navigating conflict, transition, and complex decision-making. Her practice is not confined by a particular area of law because the focus is not on legal outcomes—it’s on the people in the room. Through a client-centered, trauma-aware process, she fosters spaces where all participants feel heard and capable of shaping the way forward.
As a queer woman and someone who came out later in life, Sarah understands how systems often fall short for people whose lives don’t fit conventional molds. Thresholds exists to offer something different—a space where clients of all identities and backgrounds can feel safe, seen, and supported as they move through the hard work of navigating change.
One mediation session each month is reserved at a scaled rate for clients with demonstrated financial need.
